Modern vapour and air permeable underlays offer great advantages in helping to remove unwanted water vapour from buildings to prevent the build-up of potentially damaging condensation. However, we still install them in the same old way that we used for the old bituminous felts. This has resulted in a dramatic rise in complaints of water leakage in roofs.
In this presentation, I will explain how we can design and construct our pitched roofs to ensure they remain watertight and durable by using techniques and materials that add very little to the overall build cost of the roof.
During this session delegates will learn:
1.Why modern roofs fail
2.The differences between bituminous & modern underlays
3.Simple techniques to overcome difficulties in laying modern underlays
4.How the use of some simple additional materials ensures a watertight roof
5.Other advantages to constructing a roof in this way
